I have enjoyed working with the homeowners of this lovely and spacious Landenberg home to update and undo trendy features and fixtures that were installed at the time the home was built in the 1990s. The grandeur of the entry hallway allowed for large fabulous fixtures. The fireplace in the living room was completely redone with a custom mantel and slate surround and hearth. Paint was updated and floors were refinished. Formal and family powder rooms were completely renovated and the family room was transformed into a cozy gathering space with furniture from Lee Industries, Hancock and Moore, and Henredon. The custom built-in cabinets were retrofitted to accommodate new television and speakers/sound technology.

These pictures illustrate the layering process of design, working with a style and adding elements such as pillows or plates, drapes or slipcovers, to update and accent with color. The color is integral to the warmth and mood of a space.
I worked with the homeowners of this lovely Wilmington home to restore its original character as well as to add function and space. We reopened the fabulous front porch exposing the original stonework and grand front entry as well as gracious outdoor porch area. A large family room and kitchen were added on the rear of the house, and two of the second floor bedrooms were combined to create a large master suite including a walk-in closet and gracious marble master bathroom. The homeowner was especially attentive to include period elements such as leaded glass and cobbled stone. The end result is a completely updated and grand tudor home in the heart of the Highlands area of Wilmington.

An early project was working with this homeowner who has many lovely antiques and old Persian rugs, and we considered them in our paint and window treatment selections. This household has recently moved to Florida and we are integrating the old with the new and fresh patterns and colors as we transform the look for a new location. Stay posted for pics!

A recent Master Bathroom project brings the current trends in white marble to a grand new level, with Calacatta gold marble surfaces and traditional with a hint of modern fixtures, all while staying in a very conservative budget. Light fixtures from Visual Comfort, Sinks and faucets are Kohler.

This kitchen project included adding to the home’s exterior footprint and eliminating an interior wall to recreate the dining, living, and kitchen spaces for increased functionality and openness. The centerpiece is the grand 10′ island in Calacatta Gold Marble. Kitchen cabinetry was supplied by Craftway Kitchens, Wilmington, DE.

Working in a living room space that has doorways on three sides required floating the furniture in this lovely home, and ultimately resulted in an intimate and beautiful conversation space. The homeowners had preselected the rugs, paint and dining room furniture; we worked together on the window treatments and living room and entry hallway furniture and lamps. With a defined budget, we opted for some fabulous trims while waiting to add grasscloth wallpaper and art. After suggesting the idea for the succulent arrangement and choosing the container, the homeowner created this live arrangement herself!

This new kitchen and dining space in North Wilmington started out as two separate rooms, dining and kitchen. On the first meeting with the homeowner, we determined that the best function and price point would be achieved by combining and reversing the two spaces. The new open floor plan flows well into the adjoining outside patio and family room spaces. The flooring in the kitchen is Cortex, a fabulous cork product. The clean lines of the homeowner’s mid-century dining table and chairs fit perfectly in the new space.

I collaborated with the home flipper on this complete home renovation in North Wilmington. We immediately connected on bringing an open and modern style to this very dated home that had fallen into disrepair but had amazing potential in its fabulous location, nestled in the woods on a cul-de-sac. Of first priority was relocating the stairway from the middle of the kitchen to the inside wall of the living room. We exchanged the porch for an office/den and expanded dining space. The end result is a very spacious, open and modern home on two levels.
